Jogela Named MVP

The Omnitel U16 European Championship Men displayed more than a handful of future stars that in a few years will be known to any European Basketball fan.
The five who stood out the most and were named to the All-Tournament team are:
Guard - Nenad Miljenovic (Serbia)
Guard - Jaime Fernandez (Spain)
Forward - Tauras Jogela (Lithuania)
Forward - Gleb Goldyrev (Russia)
Center - Przemyslaw Karnowski (Poland).

Jogela was also crowned as the MVP of the competition leading his team to the finals game and their first ever silver medal in the U16 games.

The 1.94m Serbian guard Miljenovic finished the games with 17.7 ppg (ranked 3rd in the championship), 7.0 rpg, 4.7 apg (2nd) and 2.7 spg (6th).
He scored in all nine games in double-digits including a near triple double performance against Russia in the Quarter-Finals with 21 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists.

Gold medal winner of Spain guard Jaime Fernandez had a slow start for the tournament but an unforgettable finish.
Coming to the semi finals he had only two double-digit points performance, but 20 points in each of the last two nights were worth gold for his team.
He averaged in the championship 12.0 ppg, 3.0 apg and 2.4 spg (7th).

Silver medal winners Lithuania enjoyed the services of the athletic Jogela who wrote double-digit in points in all games but the semi-finals.
He wrote in nine games 15.6 ppg (8th) and 8.9 rpg (1st) that included five double-doubles.
In the last two he excelled better than any other player in the championship, while being ranked Top 10 in ten different categories.

Russia's forward Gleb Goldyrev showed his strong presence on both ends of the floor and wrote some of the more impressive individual performances of the competition.
He finished with 16.9 ppg (5th), 7.5 rpg (8th) and in total is ranked top 10 in 11 different statistical categories including 50.5% from the field (6th) and three double-doubles (3rd).

The center Przemyslaw Karnowski was main guy of the biggest surprise of the tournament - Poland, leading his team to the top four at the finish line.
He averaged 10.0 ppg, 7.7 rpg (6th), 3.3 orpg (2nd) and 1.4 bpg (9th) and on top of presence in the paint displayed great passing skills.
His winning plays in the first three games wins of Poland in the competition made the difference to the team who came close to history making.
He has also won the Fair Play award.
